The family wine estate Quinta de Sant’Ana includes vineyards between the breathtakingly beautiful Atlantic coastline and the vibrant capital of Lisbon. The beautiful property is a place to experience authentic Portugal. Purchased in 1969 by a German couple, it is not till 1992 that their daughter Ann and husband James Frost rejuvenated the project which had started before the revolution. Now with their 7 sons who have all grown up learning to pick grapes and the winemaking process, this is a working family wine farm.
The vineyard produces many types of red, white, rosé, sparkling and late harvest wines. The climate in this area is characterised by cool misty mornings and hot afternoons allowing for excellent wines to be produced and suitable for exciting varieties such as the international Pinot Noir and Riesling, to the Portuguese grape varieties Alvarinho and Arinto, and local variety Ramisco. In 2018, the family decided to start producing only organic wine, ensuring the sustainability of the practice.
The Quinta is dedicated to three activities: the production of top-quality wines, the hosting of guests in enchanting summer houses and the organization of tailor-made events for an international and Portuguese clientele.
